After the unfortunate incident this winter involving a collision of heads and one broken permanent tooth, Victor affectionately dubbed himself "Tooth-knocker." That was during his Transformer obsession phase.
Last evening, just before dinner, we heard another crack and a wail from upstairs. This time, the offender was the baby monitor (the details are blurry), but the outcome was another jagged smile, as Lucy's prosthetic tooth was completely knocked out.
So, the dinner prep was parked in the refrigerator, and we loaded up and headed for Grandpa's express dental service. Poor Grandpa.
This granddaughter of his has a phobia of needles. Last year, we celebrated when it only took 2 people to restrain her for her flu shot (as opposed to 3 or 4). Pain tolerance is not her forte.
After 2 hours of bargaining, bribing, and crying, she still wouldn't let my Dad come near her with the anesthetic. So, we called for reinforcement.
The junior partner in the group, Dr. Matt Baker, came to the rescue. Lucy was convinced he had an alternative method, and who were we to say otherwise.
So, the tooth is fixed.
Grandpa, however, may need some therapy.
